 Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality lies in Rautahat District of Madhesh Province.It is named after goddess Durga whose temple is situated inside the same rural municipality in the village named Matsari.

• History

Before 2014,there was VDC(Village Development Commitees) but after the year 2014 it was divided into 5 sections or wards.In section(ward) no. 3(Matsari), there is beautiful & famous temple of Goddess Durga that's why this rural municipality has been named as "Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality(DBRM)".This temple is most famous site in DBRM.

• Area

This Durga Bhagwati rural municipality occupies area of 19.80 km sq.In this area Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality(DBRM) has been divided into 5 villages :    DBRM 1(Pipra) , DBRM 2(Bhalohiya), DBRM 3(Matsari), DBRM 4(Pachrukhi) & DBRM 5(Barharwa).

• Population

According to the data of 2011, the overall population of Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality was recorded to be  around 22,600.Around 1100 people live in 1km sq.

Most  of the people follow Hindu and few people follow Muslim.

The most spoken languages in Durga Bhagwati R.Mun. is Bajika,Bhojpuri,Maithili & also languages like Nepali,Urdu,Hindi & English are spoken there.

• Status(Facilities)

• People of both the religion live there peacefully & happily. As it is a rural area so there lacks good facilities of heath, education,etc.For better health services, one need to visit Birgunj or Kathmandu.There are both the government & private health posts and hospital as well.But In Government hospitals or health post there is always scarcity of medicine & also lacks carefull health workers.In case of private hospitals or health clinics, there are some better facilities than that of government but not completely well.Means if the situation of patient is critical, then he/she should compulsarly go to cities like Birgunj.
